Language is meant to be a tool. Learning is meant to be fun.
Nobody should compare learning a language with studying quantum electrodynamics.
In fact, we should realize that environment fosters language learning. English is no exception.
There are many different environments which could further our English skill –
1) All-English Individual Environment – Start with yourself. This is the easiest way.
2) All-English Family Environment – Start with looking for an English-speaking spouse. This one is a little bit hard. But if you handle it well, it will payoff. You may also start communicating in English with your current family members.
3) All-English School Environment – Start with 建中, because she is the “Mother of all Battles”. Outlines of its grand plan were previously described in this blog.
4) All-English Entertainment Environment – Of course, all work and no play make Jack a dull boy.
5) All-English Working Environment – Look for employment with a company whose principal language is English.
6) All-English Living Environment – This one is a little bit discreet. I have to let you figure it out yourself.

There are many learning environments –
1) Individual environment
2) Family environment
3) School environment
4) Working environment
5) Living environment
5) The living environment is too massive to be controlled by individuals. Besides, we have to be considerate and respectful of the society in which its native language is already in place.
However, we could start from the small ends, individuals.
As to 3) School environment, I will be happy to see that it could start with建中.
A) “Mandarin” remains as a mandatory course.
B) All other courses will be taught in English.
C) English becomes an official and unified language within the school.
D) School administration, students, teachers, faculty and staff will all be communicated in English.
Since建中 is a public school, the government will have to intervene and the general public has to support in order to implement this all-English learning environment program.

That will NOT happen in Taiwan FOREVER. Many people in Taiwan think CHINESE is far way important than English based on their POLITICAL view. The best way to solve the problem is to send your children to the US or the UK like president Ma did.
